Frequently Asked Questions
PRODUCT BASICS
The mushrooms are there to enhance the flavor of the beef, not overpower it. They add a rich, savory flavor that complements the beef naturally. Mushroom lovers tend to love Wilderra Blends, but we’ve also found that plenty of people who don’t normally like mushrooms enjoy it too.
Wilderra is made with 50% beef and 50% mushrooms.
We use a blend of oyster and shiitake mushrooms, chosen for their savory flavor and how well they pair with beef.
COOKING
See our Cooking Tips for more information on how to cook the product.
Yes. You can substitute Wilderra 1:1 anywhere you would normally use ground beef, with a few small adjustments.
We recommend cooking it a little longer than conventional ground beef to give the mushrooms time to cook thoroughly. Because the mushrooms naturally help the blend bind together, you usually don’t need to add eggs or breadcrumbs when making burgers, meatballs, or patties.
And if a recipe normally calls for adding water to ground beef, you can generally skip it. The mushrooms naturally add moisture to the blend.
No. The mushrooms naturally help Wilderra bind together, so you typically don’t need to add eggs, breadcrumbs, or another binder when making burgers, meatballs, or patties.
Yes. Wilderra is currently sold frozen and can be kept in your freezer for up to six months.
